Pastor Zimmerman
It is hard to believe I am finishing up my 15th month as your interim minister here at St. Luke Lutheran Church, Cold Spring. The time has flown, but I am happy to say that I will be with you another 13 months! I am excited to be here until the end of January 2013 because 2013 will be the 60th anniversary of St. Luke Lutheran Church! Like most people who turn 60, or have a 60th wedding anniversary, crossing the 60 year mark is a BIG EVENT!
I am hoping that during 2012, we can plan a really great celebration of St. Luke Lutheran Church’s 60th birthday party. St. Luke is no longer a “new church start.” We are actually maturing into our future, although in a new church building.
This rather reminds me of the Cincinnati Bengals. I can remember when they were a “new franchise.” It has only been within the past 10 years that they got their new stadium. Although the rookie team has been doing very well in their first year together, they have had to plead with Cincinnati Bengal fans to come celebrate their BIG GAME this coming Sunday afternoon with that other team from up East. Image that-- a new stadium, a winning rookie team and they have to plead with their fans to fill the stadium for their pivotal game.
Like the Bengals, we were a new “franchise” we have a new place and some winning ways, but we now need to earnestly ask the members of St. Luke to support their home church as we approach the Big anniversary. I hope that in St. Luke’s 59th year the members of St. Luke will step up to the plate (oops wrong sport metaphor), tee up (wrong again) . . .well, come on home to help us all prepare ourselves for the big anniversary.
Hoping you have a happy New Year, Pr. Zimmerman
Thank You!
Roy and Peg Whitford would like to thank everyone for the prayers, cards and good wishes during Roy's bout with lymphoma. The latest PET scan shows that he is cancer free. (Thank God for answering prayers.) He will have to have maintenance treatments every 3 months and will probably spend the next 3 or 4 months getting his strength back, but talk about wonderful Christmas gifts!!!! Thank you all so much for your love and support. Peggy
I wish to thank the members of St. Luke Lutheran Church for the thoughtful gift to me for the Christmas season. Karen and I will enjoy the gift certificates over the months of the New Year. Pr. Z
Dear members of St. Luke, Thank you so much for your kind gifts! You are a blessing in my life and friends to cherish. Love to you all, Martha Delaney

The Emergency Cold Shelter of Northern Kentucky was very grateful for all the hats and coats and gloves last week. Jacob and I received an eye opening tour!
The current urgent need is for disposable razors and toiletries as people try to clean up for interviews and to look decent to apply for help!
There will be a box for these items in the Narthex.
We would also like to collect items for St. John's Pantry that are not normally available from government assistance such as Toiletries and Paper products like towels and toilet paper. Stack your paper in the Narthex.
Some stores like Meijer run sales along with coupons on personal items. If you could pick up one extra and donate it, you could help change a life.
HERE IS THE MISSION AND VISION for the Northern Kentucky Cold Shelter:
Description:
Mission: To provide shelter which is life saving in the winter and life changing in the summer
Vision: We believe homelessness is an emergency and that shelter is a basic necessity for human beings. We believe that only when this basic necessity is provided, do human beings have the ability to recover from homelessness.
